Things to keep in mind when deciding your floral budget.
We get it… this wedding planning can be a bit daunting and there are so many details to consider especially when you are trying to work out your budget. A quick google search will give you any number of answers like 10-15% of your overall budget or the average spend for couples in 2022… but there are so many other factors like where you live, and the level of expertise you wish to have in your florist. The truth is this can be a tricky question as each couple's needs are unique and there are a lot of variables that you should factor into your costs. Below are listed a few of the top factors that we feel affect your budget.
Personal Flowers: Personals are the items typically associated with the wedding party, like bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, floral crowns etc. The larger your party requirements the more you should expect to spend on personals. For example 10 medium sized attendee bouquets would account for almost $1,000 of the overall budget.
Ceremony: What type of ceremony do you dream about? Something large and extravagant, or simple and elegant? Structures like free standing arbors and arches typically start at $1,000 and increase upwards of $3,000 depending on styling / size / and flower type.
Installs: Are there any larger ticket items like ceiling greenery or large installations on your wishlist? These can run from $500 to $3,000 and upwards depending on size, scale and concept.
Number of guests and table styling: Your table count will reflect the number of guests you have, and this will determine how many centerpieces you might need. Also, not all tables are created equal. It can take a bit more product to fill the length of a banquet table as opposed to a round so don’t be surprised if these are a bit higher in price.
Style/Flower preference can affect your estimated budget as well. Expect to pay more for out of season flowers, also a luxe flower heavy look with orchids and peonies would be significantly more pricey than a wild garden style with seasonal flowers.
Time of year: Are you getting married near a popular holiday like Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day? During peak times of the year farms will often raise pricing to offset the costs of increased labor and shipping premiums, which increase the overall cost to the client.
As you can see there is no “one size fits all” answer, it all comes down to priorities, needs and the experience you would like to create. Some couples are really excited to have flowers everywhere, and some might just want enough to create a feeling of celebration throughout the day. Others may want to hop on the latest wedding trends, or limit their attendee floral needs while splurging on a larger ceremony or reception install. We want you to have the wedding of your dreams and will do our part to help guide you to a beautiful plan that makes sense for your budget and priorities and will make you feel excited and ready for the big day!
